Kovesi’s Chicken Farming

Bulgarians, who do not consider corruption to be a scam in which they do not participate, pinned great hopes on the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) and personally on Laura Codruța Kovesi to clean up the swamp in which the Bulgarian Prosecutor’s Office is slumbering like a well-fed crocodile. All this turned out to be a dream, and Kovesi’s latest “blow” to a fake chicken farm made this institution a laughing stock against the backdrop of the political grand corruption raging in our country.

The powerful “chicken” blow of Kovesi and EPPO against the Bulgarian mafia was covered last Friday by all media. Name and company were not disclosed. With the information systems of BIRD.BG we easily found out who the accused was and who was the company that allegedly wanted to build a farm for laying hens and presented a fake annex to a bank guarantee.

The sole owner and manager of “Comfort Plast Varna” EOOD until 31.10.2022 is Georgi Todorov Georgiev with the initials G.T.G. – coinciding with those in the criminal case 4900/2024 of the Sofia City Court. The amounts coincide with those from the announcement of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The case is classic chicken farming, albeit for a larger amount of European money. The company also turned out to be a debtor to the NRA. It is unlikely that anyone will be surprised, especially the head of the National Revenue Agency Rumen Spetsov, that it has been transferred to a “straw man” associated with 44 companies, many of them also debtors to the revenue agency. The accused Georgiev is also a debtor to the treasury as an individual.

The secrecy of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office was easily broken through in this chicken case, similar to the dozen others that Kovesi’s office boasts about. But is it worth it and how significant is the public interest? The abuses of 5, 10, 100 thousand euros revealed so far hardly justify the salaries of the Bulgarian delegated prosecutors, not to mention the Luxembourg ones. They investigate abuses for ridiculous amounts, and brag about them. Tremble, chickens!

But when it comes to big corruption and the hundreds of millions dragged along with political protection, Kovesi’s omerta is ironclad. What happened to GP Gate? Where did the hundreds of millions for houses for mothers-in-law sink? Mario’s Ducks for a Few Million Where Did They Fly? Have 26 million euros been found for food for the poor in Romania, stolen with the help of Bulgarian banksters from FIB? Our investigation found luxury properties bought with this money. Are they seized? They are not!

And more topical: It was never understood what happened to the two arrested for the multimillion-dollar railway project Kostenets-Septemvri, from which the corpulent shadow of Delyan Peevski peeks out. And who are they? Which court took a measure of restraint for them? And has it been taken at all? Why this deep discretion? The investigation sank somewhere and neither Peevski nor his right-hand infrastructural arm Ivan Mirinski were worried. In this investigation, it was allegedly established that millions were exported in cash, like in Hemusgate. There is no high-speed railway, there will not be any soon, but has someone collected money with sacks? Who, dear Codruța? Who took them away? This is what we want to know quickly. Otherwise, the chickens will understand that in Europe there is a political omerta not to work on corruption crimes related to the top of the Bulgarian mafia!
