A young gerber raised a house for BGN 250,000. with 130 000 BGN loan

The head of the youth GERB Georg Georgiev has managed to build for the last year and a half a house with 300 sq. Total built-up area in the Sofia village of Lozen. At the most conservative estimate, this construction costs BGN 250,000, but Georgiev’s property declarations as Deputy Minister and MP do not reveal such an amount.

The young Gerber, who was Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs under the government Borisov 3, has bought a plot of 900 sq. In the village of Lozen in 2018 for BGN 82,144 When Deputy Minister Georgiev entered the post declared that he had been bought with “credit, savings from previous years and salary”. Then a bank loan for BGN 60,000 was also entered in his declaration .

At the beginning of 2020, Georg Georgiev obtained a building permit for a house with 291 sq.m. floor area. At the end of 2021, the house is already ready for rough construction, our reporter saw.

According to rough estimates, such construction costs at least 400 euros per square meter. Due to the displacement of the terrain and the construction of a concrete fence, the bill is probably saltier. A conservative estimate of BGN 250,000 can be accepted. for the overall construction so far.

However, Georgiev’s declarations for 2020 and 2021 as Deputy Minister and MP do not reveal revenues that can explain this expenditure. Upon his inauguration as an MP in 2021, he declared two bank consumer loans for BGN 63,499. and BGN 56,749, as well as two deposits for BGN 10,169. and BGN 3,802. In total, this makes BGN 134,219 or almost twice less than the amount needed for the house. In his previous declarations for 2019 and 2020, no bank deposits or cash available were found at all.

It is not clear whether the two loans declared in 2021 also include the remainder of the first loan to finance the property in 2018. But even if this loan has been fully repaid (with what income?), the bill still does not come out.

It is possible that Georgiev has financed the construction with his salary of a Deputy Minister, which amounts to BGN 52,000. per year, but this would mean that he did not spend on anything else and did not repay his loans, to which should be added a financial lease for the acquisition of a vehicle of BGN 36,604.

Expensive properties with difficult to explain origin of funds are a specialty of PP GERB activists, as evidenced by the “Apartmentgate” scandal. Two years ago, Bivol unveiled a property worth 1 mln. the former head of public relations of the party Sevdelina Arnaudova. She explained the financing of the expensive home with property sales and a large bank loan.

1. The house is still under construction, unfinished and unfit for habitation, which makes your stated alleged value unrealistic and highly manipulated. /editor’s note. In the publication we have indicated that it is a rough construction./

2. The house consists of one residential floor. /editor’s note. Probably the volume under the residential floor, which is clearly visible, is for agricultural purposes./

3. The house is located within a terrain to which there is no real existing infrastructure, water supply and sewerage. / b.ed. The same applies to neighboring houses, which are not at all modest. The land was purchased by Georgiev as agricultural land, but it quickly changed its status. An interesting question is how to issue a permit for construction on land without infrastructure.

4. The construction is financed with funds from two loans, from sold family properties and last but not least – personal labor. /editor’s note. Income from family properties sold should be recorded in the declaration. Georgiev’s lot does not show that he has sold properties in his personal capacity.

6. The property in question is the only real estate I will own once one day it is eventually completed. Accordingly, it will be my first and only home, progress, which has not been realized for months precisely because of the lack of funds for this.
