Institutional wars in a cousin state

Almost a year after the arrival of the first caretaker government of President Radev, the institutions in Bulgaria are in a clear war. This is not news, but a statement that is repeated almost daily in the National Assembly. Around the case #ХемусГейт, once again it became clear that the prosecution sabotaged and will sabotage every effort of the Ministry of Interior and the State Agency for National Security (DANS) to uncover of corruption or other crimes committed by functionaries of GERB and MRF. However, it turns out that there are relatives on both sides of the barricade. Deyan Mollov, who was the favorite of the previous leadership of the Ministry of Interior, is a cousin of “The Blade of the Specialist”, prosecutor Angel Kanev. He headed the Border Police under the current leadership of the security department.

The Administrative Head of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office Angel Demirev Kanev turns out to be a second cousin with the Director of DG “Border Police” Deyan Valentinov Mollov. According to bird.bg sources, the prosecutor’s father – Demir Angelov Kanev and the mother of the director of the border police – Elenka Mihaylova Mollova are first cousins. As can be seen from the property register, Ruska Demireva Angelova transferred properties to Elenka Mihaylova Mollova. Ruska is a co-owner of another property with Demir – the father of Angel Kanev. From the age of Ruska it can be assumed that she is the sister of one of Demir’s parents.

There is nothing abnormal in the situation, Bulgaria is a small country and we are all relatives. The factual situation, however, seems disturbing. In the last 2-3 years Angel Kanev is a favorite of Ivan Geshev. He is the supervising prosecutor in cases that look as if they will never go to court and will be used only for pressure. The scandals surrounding Kanev are not absent. It turned out that he had acquired real estate from direct competitors of Minyo Staykov, in whose case he was a supervising prosecutor.. Before being employed as a junior prosecutor at the SRS in 2012, Angel Kanev was an investigating policeman in the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Sofia. Elhovo at the Regional Directorate – Ministry of Interior – Yambol. Towards the end of Sotir’s term, Tsatsarov Kanev was seconded to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office, and with the arrival of Geshev he became a “spear” of the unit. Later he headed it.

While Angel Kanev works as an investigating policeman in Elhovo, in the region, but as a border policeman his cousin Deyan Mollov also works. The career development of the latter passes under the watchful eye of Stoyan Shtilyanov Ivanov, a State Security cadre and current Head of Cabinet of Boyko Rashkov. Stoyan Ivanov was Director of RDGP-Elhovo, where Mollov later became a deputy. Subsequently, Ivanov became deputy. Director of GDGP and Mollov Director of RDGP-Elhovo.

It is clear to Mollov and Kanev that they are former colleagues in the Ministry of Interior, they have worked in one town – Elhovo, but they are also relatives forever. On the one hand, Kanev is the right hand man of Ivan Geshev, who is in clear conflict with Interior Minister Boyko Rashkov. Against Kanev, as well as against Geshev, there are more than enough signals for crimes against justice. Perhaps he is not the only one in the Special Prosecutor’s Office who has been alleged to have pressured witnesses to perjury.

On the other hand, Mollov builds a heroic image in the media during the time when the Ministry of Interior was governed by the MP from GERB Mladen Marinov, associated with Peevski and DPS. And he as His cousin Kanev is not without questions in his biography.

In recent years, the two cousins have not demonstrated closeness, but as people have said, “blood does not become water. Sources of the bird.bg say that it was Mollov who providedmforth of the previous rulers along the border. Not without your cousin’s influence. Of course, being someone’s relative doesn’t mean anything., but such kinship raises the suspicion that the former government has a “submarine” in the current leadership of the Ministry of Interior, in the face of Mollov.
