It should also be possible for systems to convert static data for years back, so that there is no break in statistical series and distortion of information. This also applies to e-services. Further modernization is needed in order to increase the level of protection of information security. 11 (eleven) information systems will be adapted and integrated. In order to ensure stability and sustainability, as well as a highly functional and secure environment, 7 (seven) new servers and software for managing the virtualization environment in the NSI data center will be purchased and implemented. The digitization center based on a robotic scanner will also be renovated,” the justification says.

The government’s decision is related to the implementation of the National Plan for the introduction of the euro in the Republic of Bulgaria and to the information security requirements.

adaptation and upgrade”
 actually lies something very simple: one field/column must be added to one of the database tables.

” is also a very simple operation: adding a new field/column in which to write a value multiplied by one coefficient. In this case, this will be the official fixed exchange rate of the euro to the lev on the day of the changeover to the European currency.

Of course, the display of the euro should be displayed alongside the lev in NSI applications and in their electronic services, but this is a trivial task and does not require reworking of all software.

How much does the euro cost the NSI?

A robotic scanner costs no more than $70,000, and a server the highest configuration, such as those used at CERN’s computing center, won’t cost more than $15,000 each. Let’s round the cost of hardware to about BGN 300,000.
Let’s say that the changes in the tables and software, as well as the implementation of the servers and the robotic scanner, will engage for a month a dozen IT specialists to cost their employer BGN 10,000, or a total of BGN 100,000.
