Right of reply from Att. Ivan Todorov in connection with the publication “Going up to Delyan” and arranges a golden passport of an important Russian

I would like to express my astonishment that a serious publication such as Bird publishes obviously false and logically contradictory facts and circumstances in the above-mentioned article.

It is absolutely false, for example, that “Among the lawyers from Todorov’s office, which Roman Savushkin has authorized, the name of Boyan Novanski is visible.” I don’t know Boyan Novanski and he’s never been to the office where I work. By the way, this can be verified by simple reference, as long as someone makes the effort to collect correct information.

Obviously, it makes no sense since 2015 that Delyan Peevski’s media write constantly against me and at the same time claim that I would have some joint activity with him. It is good that this opinion of mine is quoted and it is easily verifiable, but the question arises why at all costs it is intended to show some collusion, given that the facts speak to the contrary. The fact that three people had spoken to each other something at a table, which was eventually recorded in an unknown way, and no one knows whether it was actually spoken at all, can in no way refute the proven and visible facts that can be seen in black and white. An interesting question is also how I have led lawsuits against Peevski and worked with him at the same time. Such a combination is impossible if a person thinks objectively.

Like how the law firm could assist in obtaining citizenship of a Russian in 2019, and after 2017 no one from the law firm has been engaged in consulting people wishing to obtain Bulgarian citizenship. This does not prevent the article from directing precisely such an obviously impossible conclusion.

The title is also absolutely unproven and manipulative. Of course, there is no evidence (I’m not talking about evidence) that someone we consulted a year ago was arranged to obtain a passport. Less than me or anyone in the office. On the contrary, there is clear evidence that people from the law firm have not been engaged in such consultations since 2017. Accordingly, there is no and can not be found authorization of a person from the law firm to represent any applicant for Bulgarian citizenship after 2017. And as far as I checked by the colleague who left at the end of 2017, who consulted the application for passports for investment, such activity has practically not been carried out since the beginning of the summer of 2017.

If someone would be interested in how to obtain foreign citizenship, they will know that the attraction of candidates and the organization of the activity is carried out by companies specialized in this activity. And lawyers only advise on legal issues in connection with the acquisition of citizenship.

It is not clear what the problem is for a law firm to advise only on legal issues people who apply for citizenship in accordance with the law in force in Bulgaria. I thought that lawyers advise citizens and organizations precisely on legal issues and that this is legal. By the way, the acquisition of citizenship by investment is applied in many countries around the world, incl. and in countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom. And the quality of the laws is the responsibility of the National Assembly, not the people who apply them.
