The furnishing of the Bulgarian pavilion was entrusted to a local company for 1.8 million dirhams (about BGN 900,000). However, the company turned out to be closely related to Bulgaria. The deplorable result of the consortium’s activities contrasts with the expensive Mercedes acquired by Giofkos after the first tranche of the money for the exhibition was paid.

The Bulgarian presence at Expo 2020 was entrusted in 2019 to the association DZZD “Bulgaria Expo 2020”, in which 50% is held by the company “Project Management Advisory” EOOD, and the remaining 50% is distributed among ARCA-L.T. /25%/, D.o.F /10%/, Ciela Norma /7.5%/ and Infinity Travel /7.5%/. The consortium was headed by the former Deputy Minister of Economy Lyubomir Ganchev, adviser to former Minister Emil Karanikolov, who signed the contract for BGN 5.6 million.

The owner of “Project Management Advisory” is Juliana Shishkova, whose business connections lead to companies controlled by Ioannis Giofkos – “Techremont” and “UniGio”. The union itself is registered on the “yellow bricks” in the building on September 6 1, where other businesses related to Giofkos such as the Remotex association are located. According to BRRD, Shishkova lives with Giofkos.

Giofkos, who presents himself mainly with his Greek citizenship, became famous precisely with these companies because of the destruction of the Radnevsky enterprise “Remotex M”, repairing the heavy machines of “Maritsa East”. UniGio holds the shares of Remotex M and also owes BGN 23 million. of FIB. In 2019, UniGio was saved with a loan from the Bulgarian Development Bank for BGN 3.6 million.

The owner’s wife is Ralitsa Mateeva, and her son Alen Yavorov Mateev is engaged in the management. He is the son of Gen. Yavor Mateev, Commander of the Joint Special Operations Command in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Ralitsa Mateeva and Alain Mateev appear in Bulgaria as representatives of an Israeli cybersecurity company that sells Pegasus spyware.

The implementation of the task is deplorable, as the Bulgarian audience was convinced by the numerous media reports and photos on social networks. Outside, the Bulgarian pavilion is sadly banal, unlike the lively architecture of the neighbors. The interior is described as “the lobby of an abandoned socialist hotel”, but according to the performer it “creates the feeling of large-scale, vital and modern architecture”.

The events organized there caused mainly scandals – from the irregular import into the UAE of a copy of the Panagyurishte gold treasure, to the wife of drug lord Taki as an advertising person. The most noticeable furniture in the Bulgarian pavilion turned out to be the refrigerator with Lakrima’s dairy production, which is associated with lawmaker Delyan Peevski.

Meanwhile, after the state paid the first tranche of money for Expo 2020, Giofkos furnished himself with an AMG 63 Mercedes, which can often be seen on the yellow bricks next to the office of Expo 2020 on Tsarigradsko shose Str. “The Sixth of September.” You can tell each other by the many pairs in numbers.
