BGN 123 million liabilities to the NRA of companies with loans in the Bulgarian Development Bank

The BRRD search engine detected 48 companies with collateral in favor of the Bulgarian Development Bank, which have accumulated a total of over BGN 97 million in liabilities to the NRA. The search engine finds and 15 BDB

borrowers among the 3 billion debts written off

in October 2020 This means that only then has the NRA written off BGN 25.5 million liabilities of companies with a loan in BDB. There is a possibility that some of these companies have repaid to BDB before indebted to the NRA, but we leave the check to the responsible ministers of economy and finance.

For the study, data on collateral entered with BDB were used from the Commercial Register and the Property Register. But these are probably only some of the bank’s customers, as there are loans granted without collateral. It is quite possible that among them there are debtors to the NRA.

Among the debtor companies of the NRA with a loan from BDB is a company owned solely by Krasimir Gergov, about which we have already written earlier on the occasion of his properties for millions abroad

The company with the largest obligation to the NRA of over BGN 20 million is
GEKKO Ltd.
, with a capital of 100 thousand. In September 2014, a pledge of a commercial enterprise was established in favor of BDB against a loan of BGN 3 900 000. In March 2016, a distraint was imposed on the shares not by BDB, but by the Municipal Bank, an entry in the Commercial Register shows. And months later, in October 2016, the company also entered the NRA’s lists of large debtors and as of 31.03.2021 owed the fisc as much as 20,029,531.68. The obligation is in the NRA’s List 1 with companies that have no property. GEKKO Ltd. has changed owners and partners, but this happened before the loan from BDB, and since then it has been the sole property of Stanislav Angelov Stanishev

, associated with a total of 4 companies, another of which “GEKKO TRADE” EOOD

(declared bankrupt and already deleted) owes the NRA a colossal BGN 25.8 million.

The update includes the new data on companies with loans from the Bulgarian Development Bank, for which collateral has been entered in the Property Register as of May 17, 2021.
