“Judge of the Year” erected a residential building in Greece for BGN 65,000 of salary. Check it out.

The judge from the Supreme Administrative Court Mario Dimitrov Marinov became famous after he came up with a decision serving Georgi Gergov, in his quest to master the Plovdiv Fair. Subsequently, we revealed that the judge had become a partner with the PEA and a former MP from GERB in order to buy a plot of land together in Greece. Mario Dimitrov was awarded the “Judge of the Year” award for 2023 at the National Justice Awards.

From Mario Dimitrov’s property declaration for 2023, it is understood that he has signed a contract for the construction of a residential building in the resort village of Nea Flogita (Νέα Φλογητά) in Halkidiki for the amount of BGN 65,000. The declaration does not indicate ideal parts and built-up area. BIRD was able to locate and photograph the building, documenting the different stages of its construction.

The most difficult part was to obtain the title deed, which shows that Mario Dimitrov Marinov, uniquely identified with his personal identification number, has acquired 1/3 of an ideal part of plot number 882 in Nea Flogita. The other two parts are of 77-year-old Denka Marinova Nikolova, mother of (former) MP Ivelin Nikolaev Nikolov and 40-year-old Todor Ivanov Bazinski, who is the brother of the notorious PEA Milen Ivanov Bazinski, one of the favorite PEA of Corpbank’s trustees.

This terrain is marked in Mario Dimitrov’s declaration for 2021 as a “yard” and a price of BGN 64,542 is indicated, with the origin “loans”. Subsequently, this declaration, which we prudently preserved, disappeared from the ISJC website. In its place, another declaration appeared there, in which the yard was absent. For comparison, we publish the first declaration: MarioDimitrovMarinov120520211105 (Greece), as well as the second one, in which there is no yard in Greece: MarioDimitrovMarinov120520211105 Our team was able to locate the terrain with the number 882 using data from the Greek electronic cadastre. It is located on the second line near a beautiful beach.

The data in Google Earth gives a better idea of the situation on the ground.

In January 2023, the building in question had already appeared on this terrain for rough construction, which, as you can see, has three floors with three apartments on each of them and looks more like a family hotel than a single-family house.

At our request, a Zov News team that was in the area filmed the progress of construction work in May 2023.

At the beginning of August, the building was completely ready and accepted vacationers.

It is obvious that with BGN 65,000 there is no way to build such a building in such a short time. We assume that the noble partners of the judge have also joined financially to complete the construction before the summer season. But even if Mario Dimitrov has only one apartment in this new residential building, its value significantly exceeds the declared amount. That is why we are waiting with interest for Mario Dimitrov’s declaration for 2023, which should include more specific data about the ideal parts of the building he owns, the amount with which he participated in the construction, as well as its origin.
